Smiling Buddha Kriya for Positivity

Smiling Buddha Kriya for Positivity

Smiling Buddha Kriya is a powerful meditation from the Kundalini Yoga tradition that cultivates deep inner joy, positivity, and heart-centered awareness. It is historically renowned and often linked with the spiritual practices of both Buddha and Christ. According to yogic lore, this kriya was given to Buddha by a great Brahman teacher after his 40-day fast beneath the Bodhi tree. At that time, Buddha was physically weak and emotionally drained. The teacher cared for him, helped him regain strength, and when Buddha was finally able to smile again, he was given this kriya as a path to restore and sustain that awakened joy.
Similarly, it’s said that Jesus encountered this practice during his travels in the East. It became one of the foundational kriyas in his early spiritual training. Whether taken as literal history or symbolic teaching, the message is clear: this kriya has been treasured across spiritual lineages for its ability to shift consciousness and awaken the heart.
You may recognize the hand gesture (mudra) used in this kriya from ancient statues and sacred art—the subtle smile, the serene hands. It’s more than a symbol; it’s a direct energetic tool. When practiced correctly, the mudra and mantra together stimulate the Heart Center (Fourth Chakra), foster emotional balance, and open the channel for compassion, contentment, and grace to flow through you.
This practice is not about becoming a Buddha or a Christ figure – it’s about becoming fully yourself, aligned with your highest potential and radiating genuine inner peace. You’re encouraged to approach it with loving self-interest, not as ego, but as a commitment to your own higher consciousness.
As you practice:
-
Focus on the inner smile, even if it’s faint at first. Let it grow from the heart outward.
-
Allow the mantra and mudra to rewire your emotional patterns toward positivity and calm.
-
Sit with the intention to uplift, first yourself, then others through your presence.
-
After consistent practice, you may find yourself naturally creating beauty, peace, and healing in the spaces you inhabit.
Mastery isn’t about perfection – it’s about consistency, sincerity, and the willingness to meet yourself as you are, with love and a quiet smile.
